We get lots of great feedback from our users, but we felt it time to start adding some actual case reports.
The first one we are adding is from Luke.
Luke found his Volvo V50 immobilised in a car park……
After months of my V50 Steering lock sticking up and required a hammer to release, it finally jammed completely open with the motor failing completely. It was stranded in a pub/tesco car park and I immediately hit up the facebook forums and was pointing towards ModUnlock who explained it could be easily unlocked using Modunlock, a Mongoose cable and some technical know-how.
I rented the Modunlock/Mongoose cable package and installed VDash onto my partners laptop which was fairly simple to setup and register. I plugged the Modunlock in and it decoded the Pin in a few minutes, plumbed that number into Vdash and was given access to the car config. Scrolling down on the config wizard and found the Steering Column Lock > Disable option which I added to cart, I added the cost to my account and went ahead with the CEM change. A few minutes and some interesting dash Christmas lights later and the car started immediately, allowing me to quickly take the car home. Some interesting electronical stutters happened just after the CEM flash but 2 weeks later and I haven’t had a single issue.
I can’t believe this option was always available to me but most of online suggests an emulator which did NOT work in my case. All in all cost me £161 which was over a £1000 less than my quote from the local main dealer for the lock to be replaced and two keys reprogrammed.
Excellent and quick service by ModUnlock that was extremely helpful through the entire process and I’d absolutely use ModUnlock again (But hopefully I don’t need it!)
