Q) How long is the Rental Period?

Q) Is it truly UNLIMITED decodes ?

A) Rental versions are limited to 10 Vins. Hit the 10 Vin Limit and we will rent you another unit for free. Purchases are not limited.

Q) Is there a users guide I can download or Tutorial I can watch ?

A) Yes! head here to find a downloadable users guide and YouTube Video.

Q) Wait, so I don’t need a DiCE or Mongoose ?

A) DiCE / Mongoose is needed to make changes with VDASH or P3tool Etc. You can rent a DiCE / Mongooser with ModUnlock on the sales page.

Q) Can I use my car whilst decoding.

A) No, once decoding starts the car will be in a low power state and literally nothing will function until you cancel the decode.

Q) Do I need a battery charger on the Car whilst decoding?

A) Typically its not required, P1 and P2 platform take just a few minutes.

P3 platform of course can take UPTO 4.5 Hours with high spec CEM , UPTO 6.5 hours with mid spec cem or up to 12 Hours on Pre Sensus P3 cars.

A strong healthy battery should cope with any of those situations. However, it’s your choice and there is no downside to using a battery charger . If you are not sure about your battery health (particularly for longer P3 decodes) , use a charger or if that’s not possible you can do a few hours here and there by using the the resume function.

Q) How do I use the QR code function ?

A) Most modern phones recognize a QR code automatically when the cameras sees one. Some older phones may need a additional app from your app store. Once scanned your phone will ask if you want to load the weblink. The link will take you to our site and display your VIN and CEM pincode. You can copy the URL to use at later date.

Q) Is there any risk to my Car?

A) The Decode process may generate some fault codes which can be cleared afterwards with the ModUnlock clear codes function in the advanced menu, though most codes generated in the decoding process normally self clear after a few ignition / drive cycles.

You should always monitor your battery voltage, if your battery is of poor health, we recommend the use of a charger. Usage is at your own risk and ModUnlock accepts no liability or responsibility . ModUnlock also includes a fault code clearing function which you can run at any time before or after decoding.

In addition there is a “Reset” feature that can wake a car up should something unexpected happen during the decode process, such as accidentally unplugging ModUnlock.

Q ) I forgot to note down py PIN, what do I do!?

A ) Mod Unlock remembers the last 10 VINs and pins it has already processed , plug it back into the ODB2 port and it will immediately show the last decoded PIN. If you need a previous PIN use the menus to navigate to View Vins , then select a Vin to show the PIN.

Q) I plugged into the ODB2 port but ModUnlock does not power on..what do I do ?

A) Make sure the Device is firmly seated in the ODB2 port via its extension cable and that you car battery is fully charged. ModUnlock has no internal power and depends on your car battery to operate. In the unfortunate event of a defective device, get in touch here and will will send out a replacement.

Q ) Mod Unlock Is displaying a Fault code. What next ?

A ) Contact for Us for more information

Q) How does the Deposit refund work ?

A) Your hardware Deposit entitles you to 7 calendar days with the device (that is 7 calendar days from when the tracking says it was delivered). After the 7 days is up you must return ModUnlock. Failure to return in a timely manner (i.e. within 7 days from when the rental period expiration) will void any Deposits .

Need longer? get in touch to discuss an extension, its fine as long as it’s arranged.

Tracked returns are suggested, or at the very least proof of postage.

Deposits and Refunds will usually be processed the next working day from receipt of the returned unit.
